Kaleigh Smith

Hi! I’m Kaleigh, a dedicated mental health professional with a passion for supporting individuals through their unique challenges and journeys. My career has been deeply enriched by working with diverse populations, including first responders and neurodivergent individuals, as well as addressing a range of mental health disorders.

My Journey and Therapeutic Approach

My journey in mental health began at the University of Toronto, where I completed a Specialist Degree in Mental Health (HBSc). I furthered my education with a post-graduate certification in trauma and crisis interventions at Seneca College, followed by a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA.

I approach therapy with empathy and respect, utilizing a trauma-informed, non-judgmental, multicultural, and inclusive framework. My therapeutic style is rooted in curiosity and sensitivity, aiming to understand your perspective and narrative. I draw from a variety of counselling theories, including CBT, SFBT, IFS, Narrative Theory, and DBT, to create a blended approach tailored to your needs.

My core values in therapy include providing autonomy, empathy, and a safe space for discussing mental health. These principles guide my interactions with clients and shape the supportive environment I strive to create.

Mental Health Care for First Responders

I have had the honour of providing mental health care coordination to first responders, specifically through my work with the Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) via the Encompas Mental Health Wellness Program. This experience has afforded me extensive knowledge and insight into complex PTSD, sanctuary trauma, and occupational stress injuries. My certifications in ASIST crisis training and suicide-prevention strategies further equip me to support those in high-stress roles effectively and compassionately.

Supporting Neurodivergent Individuals

As a proud member of CADDRA and a Certified Clinical Services Provider for ADHD treatment, I am committed to offering specialized, affirming care for neurodivergent individuals. My work with ADHD and ASD clients is tailored to their unique needs, aiming to create a supportive and understanding environment where they can explore their challenges, develop coping strategies, and leverage their strengths. My goal is to empower neurodivergent individuals and enhance their overall well-being through personalized, neurodivergent-affirming therapy.

Trauma and Other Mental Health Disorders

With a solid foundation in mental health and extensive experience in treating trauma and various mental health disorders—including anxiety, depression, PMDD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia—I provide evidence-based support tailored to each individual. As a licensed Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA, my qualifications include a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University and an Honours Bachelor of Sciences in Mental Health from the University of Toronto. These credentials, combined with my dedication to helping others, enable me to offer compassionate and effective care, focusing on healing, resilience, and a brighter future.
